His determination, creative contributions, and problem-solving abilities led him to become one of the founders of Oxford’s healthcare division. Q: What is your professional background?
A: I started in a sales role for a financial services organization, and transitioned to staffing and recruiting in 2004 when I secured my role at Oxford. From that point forward I have had the opportunity to take on multiple leadership positions and be a part of top-performing teams of recruiters and sales professionals.
Q: What daily habits do you recommend for success?
A: Setting short and long-term goals and holding yourself accountable are instrumental elements to achieving and maintaining success. Additionally, I am always seeking new ways to build and maintain momentum. Lastly, I nurture a personal mindset of gratitude. Thoughtfulness and appreciation keep me centered and calm even in the most stressful or overwhelming environments.
Q: What would you say contributes most to your success at Oxford?
A: I would say hard work, confidence in the Oxford process, internal determination, and commitment to success are key contributors. I’ve always had a fire and a drive to be the best that I can be. I aim to exceed goals, celebrate milestones, and then set the bar even higher.
Q: What is one of your greatest achievements to date?
A: My greatest Oxford achievement hands-down is being a foundational piece of Oxford’s Healthcare Technology division. We started from scratch, and we continue to grow. I see big things coming from this group in the years to come.
Q: What attributes do you think are most important in a leader?
A: A leader must be trustworthy, highly ethical, and have core values that align with the organization. Ultimately, as leaders we work for our teams; everything we do is to support and empower them, with the end goal of them achieving their greatest potential.
Q: What is the best book you’ve read on business or leadership?
A: There are so many excellent options, it’s hard to choose just one. Some of my favorites include Good to Great, Execution: The Discipline of Getting Things Done, and The 10x Rule: The Only Difference Between Success and Failure.
Q: What skills do you think will be most in-demand in 2022?
A: All things AI and RPA.
Q: What are the trends impacting healthcare that you see?
A: COVID continues to impact the entire industry, from vaccines to the expedited adoption of telehealth. Aside from these reactionary trends, health modernization across all IT systems has been a critical focus for healthcare executives.
Q: What trends are you seeing in talent and recruitment this year?
A: Demand is high across all industries, but especially within healthcare. Candidate availability is scarce. It is important for clients to understand the current market temperature, be crystal clear with job descriptions, and move quickly when they are presented with a good fit. The law of supply and demand never changes: high demand means low supply.
Q: What advice would you give to individuals interested in consulting?
A: Always ensure that you are increasing your knowledge base and doing what it takes to set yourself apart. As a consultant, it is assumed you are the expert so you must be confident and able to guide the client. The more information and experience you have within your specialty, the better.
Q: How do you support driving change with your team or colleagues?
A: I encourage a culture of discovery and curiosity on my team and work to instill an awareness that we are in this together. We make changes in an effort to improve and get ahead of the curve, and we react quickly when needed. Sometimes we make the right move and sometimes we don’t. As long as we’re consistently running in a forward direction as a team, we achieve success.
Q: What do you do to mentor the individuals on your team?
A: The key is to treat each person as an individual. Each team member is unique and there is no “one-size-fits-all” approach. I focus on each person’s accomplishments and their current knowledge base. From there, I give them personal insight and direction, and hold them accountable to the goals we have established together.
Q: How do you maintain a healthy work/life balance?
A: It’s a marathon, not a sprint. I work off of my daily task list and make sure I accomplish what must be done. Outside of Oxford, I stay active — with my family, physically, and in extra-curricular activities. I compare it to a financial portfolio: You have to diversify and invest to keep things healthy and balanced.

Q: What was your first job?
A: I worked for my grandfather at the family dry-cleaning business. It was my job to clean up the production plant: mop, repair the machines, and clean the bathrooms. In the summers it would be over 110 degrees, and in the winter below freezing. My grandfather taught me from a young age the value of hard work and humility. It certainly molded me into the man I am today.
