Five-year history of providing high-quality support.

The Challenge
An established online retailer recognized the benefits and cost savings of moving selected applications to the cloud, such as Papercut™ MF. PaperCut MF enables user and device-level management and control for all printers and multifunctional devices (MFDs), — copy, print, fax, and scan, slashing paper waste while creating a secure and easy printing experience. This migration required a detailed architecture overview and assessment of the current environment to ensure the proper sizing of instances. In addition, leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS)™ Relational Database Service (RDS) was critical to the initiative’s success.

Oxford Global Resources had a five-year history of providing high-quality, consistent support to this client. They wanted to enhance their cloud visibility by taking advantage of Oxford’s expertise and understand the opportunities within AWS, best migration practices, and optimizations of their previously deployed cloud-based applications.

The Solution
We created a dedicated team of resources to support this client — from behind-the-scenes support to project management and weekly status reports. To begin, our team conducted an AWS assessment of the current production environment to identify the end goal. This assessment included scalability for times when the server is heavily utilized. The client also required security and Active Directory™ integration, cloud formation, and disaster backup and recovery. We provided professional candidates experienced in every phase of the project, from development to deployment. Our expert team:

  • Built a production environment in parallel with the development
  • Created resource groups in AWS
  • Evaluated availability zones and disaster recovery before migration
  • Migrated SQL databases to production and created EC2 instances
  • Deployed RDS in AWS for DB solutions
  • Implanted AWS Active Directory

The Result
Once Oxford completed the initial migration of PaperCut, we provided continuous support to include training and knowledge transfer so that the client’s internal staff could continue after our departure. In addition, we continued to run in-depth AWS assessment tools to conduct assessments and provide cost savings while completing development activities.
