The Challenge
Our client, a home control and automation company, was previously owned by another large lighting and electricity organization which began splitting off specific divisions. Our client required transition and migration of the identified systems within a precise timeframe. The scale of this project included monumental tasks, such as a comprehensive SAP™ cloud environment including 140 servers with more than 200 terabytes of data to migrate. Because they had a large, complex system that would need to be recreated from the ground up, they knew they required specialized consulting support. So, they called on Oxford Global Resources.

The Solution
We connected our client with a seasoned Principal Enterprise Architect. Our primary resource had 35+ years of experience in the IT field, and was intimately familiar with their environment due to working there previously. His guidance allowed the client to quickly progress with their initiative. The Oxford consultant oversaw a team of 20-25 resources. This team was responsible for migrating the entire SAP environment onto an Amazon Web Services (AWS)™ landing zone, completely separate from the source.

The Result
After six months of analysis and seven months of implementation, the client will have 12 new applications hosted on separate EC2™ instances to maximize performance and scalability. This will include four landscapes, and more than 200 terabytes of data to include S3 storage offerings in their new AWS cloud environment. Originally, they were spending nearly $130,000 in hosting fees per month. Because our consultant advised our client towards better financial options, their monthly hosting fees were reduced to $85,000, a savings of 65%. We supported their divestiture, resulting in a newer, higher functioning, and less costly system.
