Platform Modernization Supports Scalable, Web-Based Operations

Situation
Our client delivers integrated supply chain solutions for telecom and consumer electronics. As the business scaled and partner needs changed, they set out to modernize their WPF desktop platform into a scalable, multi-tenant web solution from a single codebase. They also targeted the data layer and automation workflows to improve performance, maintainability, and long-term readiness. The client trusted Oxford to provide the necessary skills and expertise to accomplish their goals.

Solution
To deliver a future-ready platform, Oxford focused on three workstreams: modernizing the application, upgrading the data foundation, and automating key workflows with serverless processing.

  • Platform Modernization: We led the migration from a WPF desktop app to a multi-tenant Angular web platform with a .NET 8 backend. We guided the team through end-to-end delivery, including UI redesign and a micro-frontend approach (separate Angular projects per domain), and brought existing JavaScript client scripts into the new web experience.
  • Database Migration & Optimization: We delivered the migration from MSSQL to PostgreSQL, rewriting and creating queries to match the new architecture. This improved data-layer performance and scalability by optimizing query execution and safeguarding reliability throughout the cutover.
  • Serverless Automation: We replaced Windows Service schedulers with Azure Functions, moving report generation and background processing to event-driven, serverless workflows. This change increased processing efficiency, scalability, and operational reliability with no manual intervention.

Result
Oxford delivered a production-ready, enterprise-grade platform now used by major carrier and retail partners to run day-to-day supply chain workflows. By replacing the monolithic desktop app with a scalable, multi-tenant web solution, our client improved maintainability and accelerated onboarding for new clients. The PostgreSQL move reduced data-layer latency, and Azure Functions removed scheduler bottlenecks with a resilient, event-driven processing backbone.
