Implementation of Microsoft 365 Copilot Agentic Platform

SITUATION

Our client sought to adopt Microsoft 365 Copilot for approximately 425 users, but the internal IT team faced challenges defining a secure, scalable agent platform. Key challenges included no established configurations for users to create, deploy, and share their own agents. There was also uncertainty regarding the controls, configurations, logging, auditing, security guardrails, and governance required for an effective Copilot environment. Finally, the client needed clarity on cost management and consumption processes, and foundational elements to enable efficient agent deployment and future scalability.

SOLUTION

We were engaged to conduct a comprehensive evaluation and provide recommendations. The project was executed with clear assumptions and scope boundaries, and included regular reporting, risk mitigation, and performance oversight. Our approach focused on six key readiness domains: Licensing, Identity & Access Management, Content Data Readiness, Microsoft 365 Apps and Update Channels, Security & Compliance, and Change Management and Adoption. We provided:

  • Assessment of the current state and gap analysis for each readiness domain
  • Development of a detailed roadmap and project plan including licensing migration, security baseline, data readiness, identity management, and endpoint configuration
  • Design and recommendation of Copilot agent configurations and capabilities, including integration with third-party knowledge sources via Graph Connectors
  • Implementation of best practices for security, compliance, and governance, ensuring auditability and clear controls
  • Delivery of specialized training, communication, and adoption strategies

RESULT

With our help, the client established a secure and well-governed Copilot foundation, enabling controlled agent creation and deployment. Our evaluation and recommendations led to the development of comprehensive security and compliance guardrails, efficient change management processes, a clear cost model, and a detailed implementation roadmap. Deliverables included readiness and security reports, adoption analysis, licensing assessments, and optimization proposals. This strategic initiative positioned the client for future Copilot adoption, improved overall efficiency, and ensured that employees could safely leverage agentic automation within Microsoft 365 to drive business value.
