Mission Critical
The Challenge
A national construction services provider was undertaking a significant data center upgrade while continuing to manage the demands of a mission-critical operating environment. The project required specialized technical expertise to support the upgrade without adding strain to the existing onsite team.
The client’s team was already heavily committed to ongoing project responsibilities, making it difficult to quickly identify and secure experienced professionals with the specific expertise required. The client needed a flexible staffing solution that could provide specialized expertise for the duration of the project without a long-term headcount commitment — finding the right people was just as important as finding people quickly. An added challenge was badging: incoming resources needed to be set up not only with the client, but with its end clients, Microsoft and Amazon, which initially proved to be a roadblock.
The Solution
Oxford Global Resources brought specialized expertise in data center construction and mission-critical project recruitment, allowing the client to quickly supplement its team with experienced professionals who understood the technical and operational demands of an active data center upgrade.
Oxford leveraged its network of specialized engineering and construction professionals to identify talent with the specific data center experience required, rather than a broad pool of general construction candidates. We provided support across safety, project management, MEP/mechanical and electrical superintendence, construction management, and field operations, working closely with the client to understand the requirements, project environment, timeline, and specific gaps within the team. The most difficult part was finding professionals who had both the right experience and the right fit for the team already onsite. Ultimately, Oxford removed the talent constraint, allowing project teams to stay focused on the work rather than searching for specialized personnel.
The Result
Oxford’s support allowed the client to wrap up its data center project and shift focus to new and backlogged work. The partnership has since expanded, with Oxford supplying more people across additional projects as the client successfully completes more work, supporting continued growth of the client’s mission-critical project portfolio.
