Driving Business Adoption for an o9 Planning Transformation

Situation
As part of a broader planning transformation, a global beverage company was implementing o9 Demand Planning and Master Planning. While the project was progressing from a technical standpoint, the business needed greater clarity around how new planning processes, handoffs, data expectations, and day-to-day responsibilities would change.

Before entering training and fully adopting the new way of working, users needed more than basic tool awareness. They needed a clear understanding of how the transformation would affect their roles, workflows, and daily decisions.

Solution
Oxford provided an OCM Lead and Training Specialist to support the client’s o9 Demand Planning and Master Planning implementation.

The OCM Lead helped bridge the gap between technical activity and business adoption by integrating change impact discussions into sprint reviews, adding process context ahead of technical reviews, and helping teams see how system functionality connected to the end-to-end planning process.

In parallel, the Training Specialist supported the documentation and delivery of Demand Planning training, translating process and system changes into practical materials users could apply in their day-to-day work.

As lessons emerged from Demand Planning, we applied those insights to strengthen the Master Planning approach, placing greater emphasis on post-go-live reinforcement, process checks, and sustained behavior adoption.

Result
Oxford helped reframe the project conversation from system functionality to business adoption. Impacted users received clearer communication about how their work would change, while the project team gained a stronger framework for discussing role impacts, process handoffs, training needs, and adoption support.

This work also helped establish a more mature change approach across the client’s broader transformation efforts, strengthening collaboration among internal change leads and sharpening the focus on what it takes to move users from awareness and training to true adoption.
