Oxford Ensures Quality and Efficiency During Transitional Phases

SITUATION

A manufacturing site for personal and home care products is currently navigating a transitional phase within its Quality Department. Although necessary for growth and improvement, this transition has resulted in a limited capacity to manage critical processes such as re-formulation and re-validation. These processes are essential for maintaining the high-quality standards expected from the site’s products, and their disruption may negatively impact overall operational efficiency and product quality. The challenge lies in maintaining production quality while the department adjusts to internal changes, ensuring that the site meets its objectives without compromising the integrity of its processes. The client partnered with Oxford to address this challenge throughout the transitional phase.

SOLUTION

Oxford provided three expert consultants who collectively ensured the Quality Department’s smooth functioning throughout the internal changes. These expert consultants included:

  • A chemist to assist with essential analytical testing (pH, SLS, viscosity), ensuring continuing quality control functions. They will soon transition to DEGEG testing to support increased testing requirements.
  • A microbiologist to support production, enhancing formulation capacity and ensuring safety and quality standards. They conducted environmental monitoring to minimize contamination risks and maintain regulatory compliance.
  • A quality engineer to manage re-validation and re-conferment processes, ensuring formulations’ validity and meeting quality and regulatory requirements during the transition.

RESULT

By partnering with Oxford, the manufacturing site was afforded the right people to maintain high standards of quality and operational efficiency during the transition period. Our professional consultants ensured key processes continued without significant delay. Production schedules and quality benchmarks, crucial for the facility’s success, were also maintained. While providing immediate relief to the department, the consultants are also helping prepare the team for a more seamless transition to full internal capacity.

Throughout this project, Oxford demonstrated the effectiveness of using specialized external resources during transitions to maintain production and quality standards. Due to the client’s satisfaction with our efforts, we will continue to support the site for several months, ensuring the Quality Department remains operational until the internal team can take over.
