If you prefer event-based training and are looking for something around development,\u00a0then consider\u00a0CodeSignal\u00a0and\u00a0Skillcrush.\u00a0CodeFights\u00a0was initially a competitive coding platform and is known now as\u00a0CodeSignal. It has been adopted for use with interview prep.\u00a0Skillcrush\u00a0offers online classes in web design, coding, and other marketable digital skills with\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/learn.skillcrush.com\/skillcrush-free-bootcamp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">free coding-camp signups<\/a>\u202fand\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/skillcrush.com\/blog\/free-coding-games\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">games<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Are you part of an association? If\u00a0not,\u00a0consider\u00a0joining\u00a0an association to partake in local\u00a0Meetups. User groups and professional associations have monthly meetings that are organized by group\u00a0members.\u00a0You can\u00a0get involved and help organize a Meetup, while building your networking skills within the industry. Many Meetups host hackathons (codeathons);\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pmi.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PMI<\/a>\u202fchapters host Project Management Day of Service. Look into STEM nonprofits and groups, such as Tech4Good Meetups in your local area,\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.htbox.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Humanitarian Toolbox<\/a>, Tech for Troops, Operation Code, Year Up, CompTIA\u2019s IT Ready Program, etc.<\/p>\n<p>You can also consider participating in online communities, i.e.\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/career-guru\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Career Guru<\/a>,\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GitHub<\/a>,\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/stackoverflow.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stack Overflow<\/a>, Slack Groups for IT, programming, marketing, finance, hardware and more with 2,000 communities posted by\u202fStanduply, as well as industry conferences and conference training days. The point is to get out there, network, get involved,\u00a0and volunteer!<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s important to\u00a0keep two things in mind. Tech-prep takes time; consider the time needed for researching, taking on courses, training,\u00a0or certification.
