The Client
Multi–billion dollar manufacturer of medical/hospital products and information management systems
The Challenge |
Client had acquired a company on the West Coast, which manufactures a specialized patient monitoring system, and needed to port this product's basic operating software from its existing Unix system to a WIN NT environment. This required analysis of the current system's software design architecture and code in California, making decisions regarding what needed to be modified or rewritten, and then transferring the relevant software files to company headquarters on the East Coast for porting to the WIN NT environment. Given that the client did not have the Unix expertise and the acquired company's staff did not have WIN NT expertise, the decision was made to use consultants with experience in both operating system environments. Of particular challenge was the need to find enough highly specialized software design consultants on short notice that could begin work on the West Coast and then mid–project relocate to the East Coast to finish the work.
Oxford's Approach |
Worked jointly with the client to develop a profile of all positions required to be filled, their expected time duration on both coasts and the skill/experience required. The client assigned a primary contact to provide a schedule of available interview times, conduct interviews and make hiring decisions. Oxford addressed the intricacies regarding the logistics and costs involved in getting people to California on short notice and then moving them to the East Coast. An Oxford account manager and one lead recruiter worked with the primary contact on a daily basis to ensure a sufficient flow of potential candidates for available interview times, and Oxford was able to fill seven out of ten available positions within two weeks time.
Benefits |
Client had immediate access to mobile technical talent, and a full staff in California working on the project within three weeks of establishing the requirements. |
